Terrequity Children's Foundation (TCF) is pleased to announce its most recent contribution to ErinoakKids.
ErinoakKids assists children with physical and developmental disabilities, communication disorders, autism, and that are blind and/or deaf. It provides medical services, therapy, Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI), and support services to approximately 9,000 children and their families in the Halton, Peel, and Dufferin regions each year.
ErinoakKids's goal is to help each child that it serves to build on his or her unique strengths, while maximizing opportunities for independence, health, and well-being. ErinoakKids also helps the children's families - offering access to respite, counseling, and connections to other understanding families.
ErinoakKids was founded almost 40 years ago by a group of Mississauga parents who decided children in Peel and Halton regions needed a rehabilitation centre. It has grown to become Ontario's largest Children's Treatment Centre with eight sites in the Halton, Peel, and Dufferin regions and more than 600 staff members.
Terrequity Children's Foundation donation will go directly to ErinoakKids's Independent Living Program, which helps young people who are leaving a lifetime of care with the ErinoakKids, and the Central West School Support Program, which assists autistic children in joining regular schools, as well as family respite care and summer programs.
TCF would like to thank Eileen Zuraw for recommending that it support ErinoakKids. Eileen has been involved with ErinoakKids for five years and has volunteered with the organization. Eileen's youngest son, who is autistic, has received care from ErinoakKids since he was 3 years old. Now 8, he is a graduate of their IBI program. TCF would also like to thank Eileen for matching its donation to ErinoakKids.
