Real Estate as a Professional Career

To become a licensed REALTOR®, you must successfully complete all three phases of the Real Estate as a Professional Career program within 18 months from the start date of Phase 1.

Course 1 - Real Estate as a Professional Career

  • Must be completed within 12 months of the start date
  • Available by correspondence, online or inclass over a period of 30 days or less
  • Offers a general overview of the benefits and limitation associated with a career in real estate
  • Provides an outline of the requirements for registration as a REALTOR®, and the mathematical skills needed to handle typical transactions
  • Looks at a number of speciality fields and career opportunities

Course 2 - Land Structures and Real Estate Trading

  • Available by correspondence or online over a 6-day period, or through 60 hours of classroom instruction
  • Provides a general overview and introduction to the technical aspects of the real estate profession
  • Examines a number of statutory laws, rules, and regulations that impact real estate transactions

Course 3  - (there are 2 parts)

Part 1 - General: The Real Estate Transaction 

  • Available online, correspondence or in class

Part 2 - Advanced: Residential

Advanced Residential 

  • Available through class time either full-time or part-time
  • Workshop activities cover a range of subjects, including:
    • Acquiring listings
    • Marking properties
    • Qualifying buyers
    • Preparing and presenting offers

Course 4 - Advanced: Commercial

  • Available through 80 hour of class time or a combination of 40 hours of class time and online or correspondence study
  • Provides examples and exercising covering a wide range of sub-speciality topics, including:
    • Office
    • Retail
    • Industrial
    • Multi-residential
    • Vacant land

Course 5 - Real Property Law

  • Available by correspondence, online or 40 hours of Classroom instruction
  • This course covers legal issues concerning property ownership and in-depth knowledge of a number of legislative acts
